Understanding Flash Text Fields

Text fields are an important key to interactive Flash movies. They provide a place for both user input and site output. Moreover, text fields are a primary source of content for any site, and they serve as labels for graphic content. Navigation systems can make use of dynamic text as context-sensitive text field content changes, depending on current options. For example, a text field's content could explain various options available depending on what other events are occurring, such as an FLV file being streamed.

Flash Pro text fields still consist of the same three stalwart types—static, input, and dynamic—as in previous versions of Flash. However, some important changes have occurred in the latest version. Static text fields can now be used in conjunction with the TextSnapshot class, and input and dynamic text fields can embed graphics.
