Formatting Component Styles

For those familiar with styling components in Flash MX, you'll find some differences in styling Flash MX 2004 components. Depending on the nature of your project, styles can be general or specific to individual components. However, an overall style for a page has certain characteristics in common, and the styles can be set globally. The following sections examine different ways and scopes for styling components.

Global Component Styling

Once the designer has a color palette, all the different parts that make up a Flash application can be created with the colors in the palette. However, up to this point, styling has been ignored when it comes to components. To make up for this apparent slight to designers, global styling of components makes it easy to make them fit in with the rest of the design. What's more, the global styles apply to all components, not just a single type.
