Q&A

Q1:I've copied and pasted every item from a sample file into my file, and it still doesn't work. What could be wrong?
A1: Most likely you didn't copy every last attribute. In a way, it's good that you have to hunt down the problem. If you most certainly copied everything, then the only possible cause of problems is that either the sample movie sends and receives data from a database to which you're not connected (through the loadVariables Action or an XML object) or that it's trying to run loadMovie on a movie that isn't present. Try typing those actions in the Movie Explorer's Find field. Just remember to clear that field and press Enter again to view everything.
Q2:When breaking down a task, is it really necessary to break it into tiny steps?
A2: The smaller, the better! As mentioned, while you work on one task, you can keep in mind the tasks that will come later—even the pros can only do one thing at a time. Do you think a good marathon runner can take just 10 steps to finish a race if he's really good? Of course not—and programming is the same in that you need to take it one step at a time.
