Q&A

Q1:When I hold down the spacebar (to get the Hand tool) and try moving my view over to the left or up, I can't go past the left of the Stage or the top of the Stage. Why is that?
A1: Most likely the View, Work Area menu isn't selected (that is, it doesn't have a check mark next to it). Only when this is set can you (the author) see outside the Stage. (I recommend leaving this setting in the default “selected” state.)
Q2:While investigating some of the finished files in the Samples folder adjacent to Flash MX, I found the scene name (clapper icon) to be a useful way to get back to the main Timeline. For some reason, I've done something to make that scene name disappear from the address bar. How do I get back to the main timeline?
A2: Usually, the address bar contains the “path” to where you're currently working, no matter how deep you go. However, if you edit one symbol and then edit another, you'll find that Scene 1 might not stay in the address bar. In this case, you'll see just the symbol name in the address bar. (This is still useful because it tells you where you are; however, it doesn't provide an easy navigation tool to get back to Scene 1—normally, you can just click the address bar.) For these situations, simply use the Edit Scene menu button at the top right of the interface.
