Workshop

This Workshop consists of quiz questions and answers as well as some activities to help you solidify your understanding of the material covered. Try to answer the questions before checking the answers.

Quiz

1:How do you know that you're editing a grouped shape?
  1. Everything else on the Stage is dimmed and you see “Group” in the address bar.

  2. You first selected Modify, Ungroup.s

  3. You held down Ctrl+Shift when double-clicking an object.

A1: A. The address bar is really your best clue. Even the fact that everything else dims out is only apparent when you have other shapes on stage. When entering or leaving a group you can often see a zooming rectangle effect—but it's pretty subtle. If you learn just one thing in this chapter, it will be to watch the address bar.
2:When creating a gradient swatch, which panel do you use?
  1. The Swatch panel and the Gradient panel

  2. Just the Properties panel

  3. Just the Color Mixer panel

A2: C. The Color Mixer panel is where you create and edit a custom gradient. P.S. There is no “Gradient Panel.”
3:How many shapes do you need to create a group?
  1. One.

  2. Two or more.

  3. Zero. You can only group gradients.

A3: A. Grouping a single shape is useful for preventing it from eating away at other shapes. Also, you can change the stacking order of objects after they're grouped.
