Transitions and Sound

No old-style television would be complete without static fuzz between channels, and no static fuzz would be complete without that classic static fuzz sound. In this section, we’ll create a transition that plays when switching between channels on the television set. To do this, we’ll create a movie clip that contains a bitmap and sound clip, and we’ll use ActionScript to trigger the transition between channels. For this project, we’ll import sound directly into Flash. In Chapter 10, we’ll stream external sound clips into a Flash movie in much the same way we streamed video in this chapter.

A Transition With Sound

As is often the case, we want to create a transition with an accompanying sound. First, we’ll set up the movie clip to hold both the audio and graphics for the transition: a snowy, static screen:
