Revealing objects Over Time

First, we’ll use Flash to create two more animations and increase our ability to bring our ideas to life. We’ll start by creating a typewriter effect, which will give us practice using text animation. Many of the same principles apply to motion graphics, but it is easy to create the text so we can focus on the animation. Text effects can be used in the most conservative sites (such as PowerPoint-like presentations) to the most extravagant (say, modeled after the famous green text waterfall in The Matrix).

Note

To perform certain text effects, such as rotating text, the outline of the font must be available at runtime. In such a case, embedding the font is necessary but will also add to the .swf download size. Such text effects won’t work with device fonts (those available on the system at runtime) because the outline information isn’t available.
