Working With Other Software

Locate scrappy_complete.swf in the 05/complete folder and open it to see what we’ll be creating. The movie features a bitmap, text, a semi-opaque box (of course, there had to be a box in there somewhere), and a video. Each element, whether created in Flash or another program, must be imported into our Flash document to complete the project. Let’s see how it’s done.

Importing Fireworks Artwork

Note

If need be, you can install Fireworks or FreeHand from this book’s CD-ROM. If you don’t want to install them, you can skip the exercises that require them and use the .fla and .swf files provided on the CD-ROM instead. To work with the video, you’ll need QuickTime. If you do not already have QuickTime, visit http://www.apple.com/quicktime to download and install it. Don’t worry—although QuickTime Pro costs $29.99, the free version is sufficient for our needs. Leave your credit card in your wallet.
