Flash On the Run: Flashing Your Devices

Flash Players are appearing on more and more mobile devices, and if you’re using Flash Pro, Macromedia has even included templates to help you develop Flash content for each device. If you’re not using the Pro edition, you can still develop for devices—it just takes a little research to know which devices support which version of the Flash Player and the screen dimensions for each device. Information about each platform is available at Macromedia’s DevNet center for mobile devices (http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/devices). For this chapter, we’ll use a template that is built into Flash Pro. If you don’t have Flash Pro, I’ll tell you which publish settings to use before publishing the movie.

So, here’s the situation: you’re a photographer who’s always on the go. And at almost every shoot you meet another potential client. You need a quick and easy way to show off your work. Sure, you have business cards to hand out, but your photography is what grabs the clients. So let’s show them your work by putting a simple photo gallery onto your new Hewlett-Packard iPAQ (one of numerous so-called Pocket PCs, devices that run the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system, as described at http://www.pdabuyersguide.com/ppc.htm).
