About the Authors

Brian Lesser

Brian Lesser is the lead author of Programming Flash Communication Server. He works in Ryerson University's Computing and Communications Services, where he has the ungainly title of Assistant Director, Teaching and Technology Support. Brian's background is in imaging and information systems. Before Ryerson, he worked in the National Archives of Canada Photograph Conservation Lab and the Xerox Research Centre of Canada Thin Film Science Lab. He has been captivated with Flash and FlashCom, and their potential in education, since FlashCom was first released. Many of his early experiments and tutorials are still available on Ryerson's FlashCom development server: http://echo.ryerson.ca. When he can find time, Brian enjoys teaching a multimedia programming course or two in Ryerson's School of Image Arts.

Giacomo "Peldi" Guilizzoni

Giacomo Guilizzoni (aka, Peldi-dot-com) is a software engineer working on Macromedia Breeze Live, possibly the most complex Rich Internet Application powered by the Flash Communication Server ever built. He has been involved in the FlashCom community since the very beginning and to this day maintains the only FlashCom-centered blog on the Web, at http://www.peldi.com/blog. Peldi wrote Chapters 9 and 14 of Programming Flash Communication Server and coauthored Chapter 15 with Brian Lesser.

Joey Lott

Joey Lott has worked extensively with Flash and Flash-related technologies such as Flash Communication Server. He's authored several books (including the ActionScript Cookbook) and movie-based training titles. You can read more about Joey's Flash and Internet-related work at http://www.person13.com. Joey wrote Chapters 6 and 12 of Programming Flash Communication Server.

Robert Reinhardt

Robert Reinhardt, partner at [theMAKERS] (http://www.theMakers.com), is internationally regarded as an expert on multimedia application development, particularly in Macromedia Flash. Robert is the lead author of several books, notably the Flash Bible and the Flash ActionScript Bible series (Wiley). His books have sold more than 200,000 copies and have been translated into 13 languages. Robert develops multimedia training for educational facilities and businesses in Canada and the United States. He also maintains FlashSupport.com, a resource for Flash designers and developers. Robert wrote Chapters 2 and 7 of Programming Flash Communication Server.

Justin Watkins

Justin Watkins is the senior multimedia programmer for Career Education Corporation's Online Education Group. Justin leads a team of Flash programmers and developers to produce synchronous and asynchronous applications that thousands of online students use daily. Justin is one of the lead developers on the open source PHP alternative for Flash Remoting, AMFPHP (http://www.amfphp.org). Justin also has contributed articles to devmx (http://www.devmx.com), a community-based web site for Macromedia developers. Justin wrote Chapters 10 and 11 of Programming Flash Communication Server.
