Video in Flash

The site that you build in this chapter displays video content. There are different ways you can display video in Flash: you can load an external FLV (Flash Video) file at runtime or you can embed video content right inside your SWF file. Loading video at runtime means that you can avoid lengthy load times and separate most of your content from the “container” website—a good way of creating web applications and very easy to update over time. Your visitors can also control how much they download from your website, which is useful when the visitor has a slow or limited internet connection.

For this chapter's project, you'll load external FLV files at runtime; however, both ways of using video are explained for your benefit.
