Chapter 3. Creating Shape Tweens > Understanding Shape Tweens

Understanding Shape Tweens

You use shape tweens to morph shapes and lines in Flash MX 2004. As you learned in the last chapter, motion tweens change the location or appearance of an object. Shape tweens can actually modify the shape of the drawing itself, however. The shapes and lines that you morph must be vector drawings in a SWF file that you create using the drawing tools in Flash, or vectors in another program such as Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia FreeHand. You might make your vector drawings by using a mouse, or you might use a graphics tablet. In the following section, “Using the Drawing Tools,” you learn about which drawing tools are available in Flash.
