Summary

Flash MX 2004 has three types of text commonly used: static, dynamic, and input text. Static text is written directly in the application, and is used to display information that won't change. Dynamic text allows the application to retrieve information from an external source and display it, allowing for changes to be made outside the application without creating a need to republish the SWF. Input text allows the application to collect information from a user.

Each type of text field has different settings that can be altered in the Property Inspector, which affect the display of the text, whether or not the font is embedded in the final SWF, and whether or not the font is anti-aliased. Some of these settings also affect file size.
