Chapter 14. Using Text > Using Input Text

Using Input Text

Input text allows a user to type into a text area. In general, input text fields are used to collect information from a user, and submit the information to dynamic text fields in your Flash application or to some technology that will do something useful with it. They have the same purpose, therefore, as input text fields in HTML.

To add input text to an application, select the text tool, and choose the Input Text option in the Property Inspector. On the Stage, click and drag to define an input text area. The basic formatting options of input text are the same as static text, with a few exceptions.
