Slide Presentations

To create a new slide presentation, use the Start screen, or select File > New, and select Slide Presentation from the New Document dialog box. The slide presentation will divide your document window into two sections. The slides themselves are instances of a special component called a screen.

The Stage will now appear to the right. To the left is the Screen inspector, which allows you to add, remove, reorder, and rename slides. To add a new slide, click the Add Screen (+) button at the upper right corner of the Screen inspector. To remove a slide, select the slide, then click the Delete Screen (–) button next to the Add Screen (+) button. To reorder slides, select and drag them to their new positions.

The first slide in the Screen inspector is the master slide, and will determine the background color and dimensions of all the slides that follow it. To change the properties of the master slide, select the master slide first, and then select the Stage. From there, you can change properties the same as you would change them for a basic document.

NOTE

Slides other than the master slide can have their own nested or “child” slides. Slides are nested by dragging one slide to the right of another. Nested slides can also be added by right- or Control-clicking a screen, and selecting Insert Nested Screen from the dialog box.

A slide must have a name. Flash specifies default names when you add slides (slide1, slide2, and so on). You can change the name either by double-clicking it in the Screen inspector, or by selecting the slide and changing the name in the Property inspector.

IMPORTANT

Slide names must begin with a letter and cannot contain spaces or special characters.
