Summary

Keeping file size at a minimum for web applications is critical in Flash. File size can be kept small by limiting the use of sound and video, as well as restricting the number of gradients used in vector artwork. It can also be controlled my making sure bitmap images are optimized prior to import, using device fonts instead of embedded fonts, using shared symbols, and splitting your application into multiple SWF files.

The Bandwidth Profiler provides information about the final SWF file size, and gives you the ability to mimic a download speed.
