Using Shared Resources

Shared resources are symbols that are stored in an SWF on the server, and are retrieved from that location when a different SWF using one of those symbols is run.

Storing visual assets in a different library has much the same effect as using multiple SWFs, namely, it keeps the file size of your documents loading into the Flash Player down. It also has an advantage for updating. When a symbol changes in a shared library, everything that uses it reflects that change.
