Organizing Layers

Frequently, when you are working with many layers, it's helpful to organize them into logical groups (animations, text blocks, and so on). This is where the layer folder comes in.

Layer folders give us a way to organize our layers as well as the real estate in our Layer pane. A layer folder is added by clicking the Layer Folder button in the lower left corner of the Layer pane, or by selecting Insert > Timeline > Layer Folder. Layers are added to layer folders by dragging them in. Layer folders can be expanded or collapsed to show or hide their contents. Like individual layers, they can be hidden, locked, or shown as outlines; however, when one of these settings is applied to a layer folder, it affects all of the layers within the folder by default.
