Summary

Flash applications can, and should be, separated into multiple SWFs, with each SWF containing related content. Each SWF can then be called into the interface when an end user wants it, or when we specifically need it to load.

External SWFs can be loaded into Movie Clips or into levels of the Flash Player. To load an SWF into a Movie Clip, first, give the Movie Clip an instance name, and then, use the Load External Movie Clip behavior from the Behaviors panel. To load an SWF into a level, add the loadMovieNum() method to a frame or to a button using the Actions Panel. External SWFs and JPEGS can also be loaded with the MovieClipLoader class.
