Summary

Animation can be created using ActionScript, instead of using the timeline or motion or shape tweens. One advantage of using ActionScript for animation is that it can keep file size lower. You can animate position, rotation, opacity, and scale of any object that can accept an instance name.

To use ActionScript to animate, you can use an onEnterFrame event or setInterval. The onEnterFrame event is an event that Movie Clips can respond to, and executes continuously based on your document frame rate. When you use setInterval, you determine the amount of times between execution, and the function that gets called.
