Chapter 23. Animating with ActionScript > Using the setInterval Event

Using the setInterval Event

Like the onEnterFrame event, setInterval executes continuously over a period of time unless it's cleared. Unlike onEnterFrame, the period of time that it executes is not dependent on your main document frame rate. You get to decide how often it happens, in milliseconds.

TIP

Because the time interval is set by you, be aware that it is easy to make other items animating onEnterFrame out of synch with the animations you create using setInterval. Generally, it's best to use one or the other, but maybe not such a good idea to use all three in a single SWF.
