The Actions Panel

The Actions panel is the Flash dialog box that lets you access all the actions that will control your Flash movie. Depending on your level of expertise, you can choose ActionScript commands from a hierarchical list or you can simply write ActionScript code directly. If you’re uncomfortable with the ActionScript rules of grammar, the Actions panel can provide hints as you enter code and also automate some of the formatting. The ActionScript panel can also give you anytime access to the ActionScript Reference Guide.

In Flash, the name of the Actions panel appears as either Actions-Frame, Actions-Button, or Actions-Movie Clip, depending on which element you have selected. In any case, the contents of the panel remain the same, so in this book it is always referred to as the Actions panel.
