Input Text

You can build your Flash project to gather information directly from the viewer—information such as a login name and password, personal information for a survey, answers to quiz questions, requests for an online purchase, or responses in an Internet chat room. These user inputs, which Flash calls input text, are assigned to the text property of a text field so that they can be passed along to other parts of the Flash movie for further processing or sent to a server-side application through the CGI GET or POST method.

The following task demonstrates how you can use input text to let your user control the parameters of an action. In this case, you will accept information from the viewer in an input text field and use that information to load a URL.
