Chapter 2. Working with Video

This chapter explores the exciting possibilities of integrating video in your Flash project. Flash makes importing video easy with the Video Import Wizard, which takes you step by step through the process and gives you options for editing, cropping, changing color balances, and setting levels of compression. When you combine digital video with Flash, you can develop imagery with all the interactivity of Flash ActionScript but without the limitations of the Flash drawing or animation tools. You can create truly interactive movies, for example, by importing your videos into Flash and then adding buttons and hotspots, sounds, and vector graphics. You can export this combination of video and Flash as either a Flash movie or a QuickTime file. More possibilities of integrating an imported video include using it as a guide for your Flash animation or transforming the video completely by applying Flash’s editing tools to turn it into vector drawings. Use this effect to give short animated sequences a live-motion feel while maintaining manageable file sizes.
