Chapter 11. Variables > What Is a Variable?

What Is a Variable?

Think of a variable as a container that holds information. Variables can be created, changed, discarded, and updated. Whenever you need to capture and store information, a variable is involved. For example, when an end user is filling out a data form, the fields are set up as variables to capture the information. Variables play a key role in any Macromedia Flash MX document that involves interactivity and the capturing of information. In this chapter we will explore the concept of variables, and how they play such a key role in managing information in Flash.
