Summary

Buttons can have instance names. This is important because with instance names, we can talk to these buttons through ActionScript. The major difference between a button and a graphic or movie clip is the Timeline. The button has a Timeline that consists of four named frames: Up, Over, Down, and Hit. You can embed movie clips or graphic symbols in a movie's Up, Over, and Down frames. When creating an invisible button, Hit is the only frame you use. Combining buttons with actions lets you create interactivity. Button symbols can be tested in the Flash authoring environment.
