System Requirements

You can create Flash MX content on the Macintosh and Windows platforms. As a Flash author, you must consider not only the requirements for creating and viewing Flash movies on your own system but also the requirements for viewers of your movie. The following sections list the system requirements for both activities.

To create and edit Flash MX movies on a Macintosh:

Processor: Power Macintosh

Operating system: Mac OS 9.1 or later; Mac OS X 10.1 or later

Free RAM: 64 MB (128 MB recommended) Free disk space: 85 MB

Monitor: 16-bit (thousands of colors), 1024-by-768 resolution

To create and edit Flash MX movies in Windows:

Processor: 200 MHz Intel Pentium (or equivalent)

Operating system: Windows 98 SE, ME; NT 4.0, 2000, or XP

Free RAM: 64 MB (128 MB recommended)

Free disk space: 85 MB

Monitor: 16-bit (thousands of colors), 1024-by-768 resolution

To view Flash MX content (in Flash Player 6) via browser:

For Macintosh OS 8.6 through 9.2: Netscape 4.5 or later, Netscape 6.2 or later, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, or Opera 5

For Macintosh OS X (version 10.1 or later): Netscape 6.2 or later, or Opera 5

For Windows 95, 98, Me; NT, 2000, XP, or later: Netscape 4.0 or later, Netscape 6.2 or later (with standard install defaults), Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, AOL 7, Opera 6; in addition, Windows 2000 and XP using CompuServe 7 can display Flash Player 6 content
