Chapter 13. Interactivity with Objects > Previewing Buttons in Movie-Editing Mo...

Previewing Buttons in Movie-Editing Mode

By default, Flash disables the rollover capabilities of buttons in movie-editing mode. If buttons were always active, you could never reposition them or work with them on the Stage. Every time you tried to grab the button, it would simply display its Over and Down frames. To view a button’s operation in movie-editing mode, you must enable buttons.

To enable buttons on the Stage:

  • Using the file from the preceding exercise, from the Control menu, choose Enable Simple Buttons, or press Option--B (Mac) or Ctrl-Alt-B (Windows) (Figure 13.10).

Figure 13.10. Choose Control > Enable Simple Buttons to test rollover buttons in Flash’s movie-editing mode.

Any buttons on the Stage now act live. As you move the mouse over a button, Flash displays the Over frame; when you click within the button’s active area, Flash displays the Down frame.
