Exporting to QuickTime, QuickTime video, and AVI

Most of the time, you will publish your Flash movie as a .swf file to play with Flash Player in a browser. On some occasions, however, you will need or want to export your Flash movie in alternative formats. The three video formats available for export are QuickTime, QuickTime Video (Mac only), and AVI (Windows only). What are the differences among these file formats, and how do they differ from .swf? To help sort out the confusion, see the sidebar “QuickTime” in this section.

If you linked a video in Flash, you must export your Flash project as one of these three movie formats for the linked video to display.
