Chapter 10. Controlling Text > Modifying Text in Text Fields

Modifying Text in Text Fields

Although the properties of a text field can define the way text behaves and the way the text field itself appears, the properties don’t control the formatting of the text that it contains. For that task, you need to use the TextFormat object. The TextFormat object controls character and paragraph formatting, which are also options available in authoring mode in the Property Inspector. Notice that the Property Inspector is divided into sections of options that are controlled by the TextField object and those that are controlled by the TextFormat object (Figure 10.52). Table 10.2 summarizes the properties of the TextFormat object.

Figure 10.52. The Property Inspector can be divided into sections of options controlled by TextFormat properties and options controlled by TextField properties.
