Adding Layers

Layers act like a stack of transparent sheets. They are “stacked” on top of one another, and you can see their stacking order in the timeline. The layer on top is the highest in the stacking order, and the layer at the bottom is the lowest in the stacking order. Objects in a higher layer can obscure objects in a lower layer.

Layers are great for organizing content in your movie, because ungrouped objects on separate layers do not segment each other when they overlap. You can also name layers, hide their contents, and lock them so that they cannot be edited.
