Lesson 7. Programming with ActionScript

Lesson 7. Programming with ActionScript

At this point, you should be feeling comfortable with the Flash basics. You've gotten to know the panels and tools, worked in the timeline and on the stage, used layers and simple actions, and created everything from simple graphics to working buttons. But Flash can do much more. This lesson will give you a taste of just how powerful Flash truly is.

Users can drag and drop the colorful tacks shown on this map.

In the tasks in this lesson, you will build an interactive map to be used in the Neptune Resorts Web site. The map will have draggable tacks that your users can use to pinpoint activities. As you build this map, you will start to learn the underlying concepts required for programming in ActionScript.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

In this lesson, you will:

  • Use a variable with a dynamic text box

  • Add drag-and-drop interactivity to a movie

  • Attach and remove movie clips with ActionScript

  • Apply a random color to a movie clip
