Clip Events

One of the ways a movie-clip object communicates within Flash is with its own event handler known as a Clip Event. You have already seen how Mouse Events, Key Events, and the Key Object detect mouse and keyboard responses. The Clip Event is unique in that it handles mouse responses and keyboard responses as well as a few less obvious events such as loading and unloading of the movie clip, playing of movie-clip frames, and loading of external data into a movie clip (Figure 5.38). The common thread in these events is that they are all assigned to a movie-clip instance. Actions that follow these Clip Events are scoped to that instance unless specified otherwise.
