Naming Instances

Instantiation of your movie-clip symbol involves two steps: placing an instance on the Stage and naming that instance. These two steps accomplish the same task as the constructor function does for other Flash objects (Figure 5.2). The result is the same—a named object or instance is created from a class that you can then use by calling its methods or evaluating its properties.
