The Selection Object

The Selection object controls the selection of text in input text boxes. Unlike most objects, the Selection object doesn't need a constructor function to be instantiated before you can use it. This is because there can be only one cursor position or selection in a Flash movie at a time. So the Selection object will always refer to that one cursor position or selection.

The methods of the Selection object affect two properties of a text box: where the cursor is positioned, and which text box is currently active, or focused. The methods of the Selection object are summarized in Table 10.1.
