Chapter 15. Testing > The Test Movie and Test Scene Commands

The Test Movie and Test Scene Commands

As you just saw, testing within the authoring environment is limited. To evaluate movie clips, ActionScripts, and other important movie elements, you must move outside the authoring environment. This is where the Test Scene and Test Movie commands—both located on the Control menu—can help: They automatically create working versions of the current scene or entire movie and open them in a window where you can test nearly every aspect of their interactivity, animation, and functionality.

The Test Scene and Test Movie commands generate actual .swf files and place them in the same directory as the authoring file. If your test file works as it should and you wish to use it as your final file, locate it on your hard drive and upload it to your server.
