Flash and HTML

You can normally place a Flash movie on an HTML page automatically by using the Publish feature. However, if you wish to make your pages manually or are interested in creating custom templates, you should know how Flash integrates with HTML.

HTML Tags

As with most things browser related, Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Netscape's Communicator/Navigator each has its own tag requirements that you must follow to display your movie properly on an HTML page. To place a movie on a page so that Internet Explorer can interpret it correctly, use the <OBJECT> tag; for Communicator, use the <EMBED> tag. You can use these tags separately or together on the same page, and you can also use them in conjunction with other HTML content. Each of these tags has additional attributes, or parameters, that affect the look and playback of your movie. The following describes how to place your movie on an HTML page using each tag on separate pages first, then both tags on the same page.
