Interface

Macromedia has made Flash 5's new interface more approachable and intuitive, which means a shorter learning curve and more efficient work flow. If you've used other Macromedia products, you'll note the similarities between the programs, such as the Launcher bar, icons for tools on the toolbar, the organization of menu commands, and the use of panels for working within your project.

Let's get acquainted with and learn how to customize Flash 5's interface, including the toolbars, menu bar, context menus, panels, and so on (Figure 2.2). We'll take a general look at the interface before we go on to examine each area in more detail. Some areas, such as the timeline and the layer interface, are covered in more depth in the chapters on animation and layers.
