Objects

ActionScript is an object-oriented programming (scripting) language. Without getting too technical, this means that you use and work with objects to accomplish interactive tasks. Just like in the real word, objects in the programming world have characteristics that describe their make-up and unique behaviors that allow them to do certain things. In ActionScript terms, characteristics are known as properties and behaviors are known as methods. The primary benefit of object-oriented programming languages is that they allow you to program and manipulate data in a context that makes sense to humans. The following table should help you get a handle on this concept.
