Working with Bitmaps

Flash in not an image editor like Fireworks or Adobe PhotoShop; thus, there are limits to what you can do with bitmaps after importing them into the program. With little effort, though, you can perform some simple tasks, such as using a bitmap as a fill, selecting and editing colors in a bitmap, erasing part of bitmap, or even converting a bitmap into a vector graphic.

Using Bitmaps as Fills

You can use any image you import as a fill for a simple shape. This is similar to applying a gradient or solid fill to a filled shape. A bitmapped fill can be scaled, rotated, or skewed inside the shape itself to create some interesting effects (Figure 6.4).
