Chapter 2. Creating Simple Graphics > Setting Text Attributes

Setting Text Attributes

Flash offers two ways to set text attributes: the Text menu and the text-related panels. From the Text menu, you can set the font, size, style, paragraph alignment, and tracking of selected text. The Text menu also lists commands for opening the three text-related panels: Character, Paragraph, and Text Options. These panels allow you not only to modify selected text, but also to set the attributes to be used by the text tool the next time you create a text box. You learn to use the panels in subsequent exercises.

To set attributes via the Text menu:

1.
Following the steps in the preceding exercises, create a text block on the Stage.

2.
With the text tool selected, highlight some or all of your text to select it.

3.
From the Text menu, choose the attribute you want to modify (Figure 2.55).

Figure 2.55. The Text menu presents several options for applying type attributes to selected text.

Flash applies the new setting to your type.
