Chapter 17. Transaction Processing > Keeping Business Records

Keeping Business Records

Some of the principal outputs of the transaction processing subsystem of an Internet commerce system are business records of various kinds. Some types of records, such as those for orders and payments, are part of the core operation of the business. Others, such as those containing customer data, create an important information asset of the business—the customer database. Still others, such as tax records, are necessary to satisfy regulatory and legal requirements.
