Logistics, Shipping, and Handling

Shipping and handling are parts of the overall area of logistics. Once an order has been entered, physical goods must be delivered to the buyer. From the perspective of the buyer, this process appears simple, but it contains surprising complexities of pricing, international shipment, and the automation of handing the order to the shipping company.

Pricing of Shipping and Handling

Shipping costs money. Unless that cost is buried in the seller's overall price structure, it is visible to the consumer. The seller will want the shipping fees to cover the costs, but beyond that, shipping charges can be a marketing tool and a competitive weapon.
