Media and Application Integration

As the Web grew, it has come to be integrated with other media, including e-mail, television, and print publications.

E-Mail and the Web

Because Web browsers now include e-mail and newsgroup functionality, it is now common for electronic mail to be sent in HTML format. Obviously this results in a richer display than plain text, but it also means that electronic mail can be fully integrated with the Web: e-mail can include images and hypertext links to Web content. This capability has many applications to Internet commerce.
