Communicate, Communicate, Communicate

Once senior management is convinced of the validity of the business case, the next step is to build organizational consensus—the buy-in needed to move a company toward an e-business architecture. Top-down management is not the best way to approach consensus building. Obtaining stakeholder buy-in is critical to any project's success.

Before beginning your e-business implementation, work out the details of the e-blueprint and develop a list of initiatives. Each of these projects may have to be sold to the affected stakeholders. Once buy-in is complete, execution can begin. However, if buy-in does not occur, the project can be still canceled before financial commitments have been made.
