Working with Online and Offline Media

The amount of online media dedicated to the Web seems to grow every day. If you feel you have a truly unique or compelling Web store, you should consider putting together a press package and sending it out to some of the top Web-oriented online and offline magazines (Table 11.1). Even if you decide not to contact them, these can be excellent resources.

There will also be online and traditional magazines related to your specific industry. For example, if you sell rock- and ice-climbing gear, you should do whatever you can to get mentioned in magazines like Outside, Men's Journal, and similar media. This brings up another point: While online promotion is important, don't neglect traditional avenues of promotion. The simplest tip is to include your Web address on all pomotional materials, even if you get more business through a brick-and-mortar store. But there is more.
