Hiring a Developer vs. Doing It Yourself

Many independent store owners decide to to do all the work themselves. Besides saving money on a developer, this also allows you to learn more about the core workings of the Internet and e-commerce. However, Web designers and developers exist to do the complicated work with the quality you need if you have neither the time nor the skills to do it youself.

We recommend that you become proficient enough at basic HTML or using a store-building service to handle minor upgrades, maintainence, and building. If you can do more than that, you increase your your flexibility. However, the more items you have and the greater your need or desire for high-end features and the use of a database system, the more likely you'll require the expertise offered by a seasoned developer.
