The Three Approaches

There are three ways to create a store from the ground up, and each has its advantages and disadvantages.

No Frills, No Cart

The simplest way is to have a site with price lists and an order form that is secure but doesn't offer a shopping cart system. People fill out the form and send it in. This approach is very inexpensive and works well for stores with few products and relatively few orders. The disadvantage is that shopping is a bit tougher for customers. A shopping cart system makes it easy for them to click on what they want, continue shopping, and then eventually check out with the total priceshipping, tax, and any other fees—already calculated for them. After finally finding a good shopping cart solution, Tronix's orders have increased at least partially due to the addition of a point-and-click system of browsing and adding to a cart. People no longer have to fill out an extensive order form and casual shoppers, first-timers especially, are more likely to shop at your store.
