Informational Content

Tronix was among the first online video game stores to provide informational content for its customers. Tronix started with simple reviews, a news column on industry happenings, and reports on the annual E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) video game trade show. A review also doubled as a fairly detailed description of the particular game.

At that point, with only one or two new releases each week, it was easy to stay on top of the reviews. Now, video games are an $8 to $10 billion a year industry, and it would be impossible to review every new release without hiring people to do so. As the technology has improved, and people have come up with more content ideas, the amount of content on most Web stores has increased dramatically. How much time you spend on content will depend on your budget. If you're a one-person operation, the amount of time available for generating content will obviously be small. Don't ignore it, though. No matter how much time you spend answering the phone or packing boxes, always set aside some time to create content. A good time to do it is at night or on the weekends at home, where customer phone calls, deliveries, and daily operations won't disturb you.
