Chapter 2. Setting Your Page's Base Styl... > A Quick Word About Using the Example...

A Quick Word About Using the Example File

The starting example HTML file, kochanski.html, includes all the HTML codes for the page, including the STYLE element in which you'll be adding some CSS styles soon. If you're not real familiar with HTML, don't worry if you don't understand everything that's included within the file. The point of this current example is just to give you some “do and see” experience in creating and previewing an example CSS style sheet.

✓ For an explanation of the codes at the top of the example HTML file (“<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC…”) see “The Three flavors of HTML,” page 84 (chapter 4). For an explanation of the content of the STYLE start tag (type="text/css"), see “Embedding Style Sheets Using the STYLE Element,” page 68 (chapter 4). For the purposes of this chapter, however, it isn't necessary for you to understand what these codes mean or do.
